Permitting Process

Step 1

Schedule a pre-application conference for project specific information. These conferences are FREE and are on a first come, first served appointment basis. Visit the Citrus County Department of Economic Development at 3600 W. Sovereign Path, Lecanto, FL 34461 or call (352) 527-5537.

Step 2

Step 3

Upon receipt of the application, the Department of Planning and Development will, within three (3) working days, determine whether an application is complete.

Step 4

If the application is determined complete, it shall be formally accepted and routed to the Technical Review Team (TRT) for review within ten (10) working days.

Step 5

Upon completion of the review, the application will be approved, approved with conditions, conditional approval, or denied. In all four cases, the applicant will be contacted and advised of the necessary actions to complete the process.

Please note: Dependent on the date of submittal, a Level One application time frame is 13 working days (2 to 2 1/2 weeks​). A Level Two application will require an additional 30 to 45 days.

Florida Department of Economic Opportunity

Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) serves as Florida’s statewide economic development agency. DEO’s programs and activites provide businesses with financial assistance, technical assistance, workforce development, training, and placement services.

GrowFL 

GrowFL is an economic development program dedicated to helping established companies no longer in the startup stage by providing strategies, resources and support for next level growth. Based on the philosophy of Economic Gardening®—to grow existing businesses in a community, region or state – the program helps companies overcome obstacles to growth and leads them towards prosperity.

The guidelines for participants include:

  • A second-stage company, headquartered in Florida
  • 10-99 employees
  • $1 million to $50 million in revenue
  • Intellectual Property and/or strategy to sell outside the State of Florida
